Let everything be ArT

So I just had these thoughts as I finished my shower listening to the amazingly talented Daniel Caesar on repeat. Why have I not listened to him before? And he's from Toronto! So cool. I am sooooo inspired. Anyway, so I was thinking we tend to think of artists as the ones painting or sculpting or drawing or rendering or even singing or dancing. I say, why stop there? No matter what we do in this life, we are all artists - it just depends on the way that the action is done. When we lead with our thoughts and not our feelings, when we work monotonously and not presently, the things we do cannot be art. When we don't enjoy ourselves and do things as a only means to an end, the things we do cannot be art. So, even if I was creating music and using only formula and technique and not connecting to that deeper part of myself, it wouldn't be art either.

Isn't a brain surgeon an artist? That type of skill and quick judgment and in the moment actions are totally art. Or the engineer? The precision and confidence and whatever other magic they do is definitely art. Or even the ice cream maker, or the baker, the finance manager or anything else we do in this life? Someone could be doing something like, designing toothbrush bristles (or something, I dunno), something that most people wouldn't see as art, but if it's done because they enjoy it, because they feel passion and like this is what they are supposed to be doing.. they are making and living art. And come on, toothbrushes are pieces of art, are they not?

And why stop there? Why not let the way we eat be an art, the way we prepare our food and nourish our bodies? Or why not let the way we move be an art, dancing through the day and letting the energy move you in ways that feel good. The way we create a nest to live in, or plan those get togethers, anything that could be seen as a mundane task...let them be art. The way we relate to our friends and family and loved ones, the way we make love, the way we hold one another. Why cannot these things all be art?

Because you are breathing right now, you ARE an artist. No matter what you do. I've heard way too many people claim "I'm not an artist" or "I'm just not creative". Creativity is our birth right, we were all born as creatives. Once you shed those beliefs, the world is your oyster. Haha. I've always loved/cringed at that saying. 😂

Anyway, that's all for now. I wanted to type it out on my phone (in the middle of the kitchen as oatmeal overcooks) before I lost this train of thought.

Let the way we live be art.

PS. I added the kitty photo because they are kitties. 😻
