Day 28 (Yesterday) of Creativity Challenge. This is a song I wrote a little while ago. I brought it to my dear dudes in Toy Daggers and they will all end up adding their own thing to it before we record it. Or, maybe it won't work for the band. Who knows? Such is the creative process. How many songs I've written and they end up in notebooks, on phone recordings, even half-demo'd. The beauty is, it's all good. I used to get so angry and hurt if something I wrote didn't work, or needed to be changed. As I've grown and matured (heh...poop and farts), I've learned to not be so precious with my work - not to say that it isn't important and I still give my all every time, however I'm learning not to be disappointed or expect any specific outcome. Creating to just create. Letting go when it needs to be let go.
I decided to post this like this so you can see a bit of my process, how a song sounds as just a little baby, before it goes through any filters or gets edited or changed, or even gets recorded. I did do a demo on my own with synths and drums and vocal effects but I decided to post it just raw like this, as I wrote it the very first day.
It was late so I was trying to be quiet, and watch out for a surprise kitty appearance ..... haha.
PS Have y'all heard of Patreon? It's a website where you can subscribe monthly to your favorite artists and then get "things" in return. Could be artwork, performances, videos, behind the scenes, kind of whatever! It's an amazing way for independent artists like me to be able to continue to create art, expand our creativity, and connect directly with people (kinda like I've been doing here). I've been toying with the idea of starting one for awhile now, and after all the love and support you all have been giving me these days I'm super excited to start!! I just gotta do it! It could be super amazing. Very soon, very exciting. Do you have any suggestions of "things" I could offer? What would you be interested or stoked about? What can I do for y'all? 😃 I would love to hear your input. You guys inspire me so much. Comment here or send me a message!
