Day 25 of Creativity Challenge! Denim Distressing ..
K so I've been wanting a killer distressed denim jacket for aaages now and I haven't been able to find one that I just love. Or, if I see one I'm remotely interested in, it's an amount of money that just doesn't make sense for me to spend . I totally get it, great art like those jackets definitely deserve it... I just haven't been able to get one yet. I had this denim jacket I got in Paris back in 2009 during the Funhouse tour. My first time in Paris, I was so super excited and had the best time that one day off we had. Anyway. It's been sitting in a plastic bin for years now, I haven't been wearing it...so I decided to try and distress it today as part of the challenge. Well, it's 1:45am and it's way harder work than I thought. I'm using a sandpaper block and creating a huge mess of blue lint. (I will clean it all up Fred, I swear. 😀) It's taking way longer than I thought and I'm not quite getting the effect I want yet. It may need some bleach treatment, which I haven't tried yet..and just some more work. It's hard for me to let it go and not be "finished" but I'm working on coming back to creative projects because I have a tendency to push through these tired and frustrated bouts and just end up burning myself out. Setting a time limit really does help, even if sometimes I still go over. I have a hard time stopping. I even started feeling bad about posting this because it's not yet done! I know it's just in my mind, old habits, and I am working to be gentle and compassionate with myself. I will continue this at a later date. Oh! And I also moved these silly plastic bins around that have been sitting in the bedroom and making it feel like a storage space, to the end of the bed, and threw a piece of faux fur material I bought awhile ago on top to make the bedroom look a bit better and more cozy. I wasn't planning on doing it as part of the challenge but again...I guess it was an act of Creativity!! :)
So, I'll keep you all posted on the jacket as I take my time with it and really give it the love it needs. I've also been researching today how to make a bed canopy and I'm planning on picking up materials tomorrow!!! Stoked!!! Also, my dad is coming over and I haven't seen him in awhile so that's pretty cool! Shoot...he's coming early...I better get my butt to bed.
Thanks so much for your support and love, and I've been so happy to see all the things you guys are creating! Thanks for sharing with me...I really appreciate it! Keep on, and keep em coming! U guys are so talented and wonderful! Xxxxxxx
PS I'll post a pic of the fur thing tomorrow...Fred's sleeping and I don't wanna turn all the lights on...that's just mean! 😉
