Day 23 Of Creativity Challenge - Disney Ukulele Cover and easy fabric table cover.
I had plans to paint my peonies, or make a video to go with one of my Bandcamp tracks yesterday. The thing with creativity is, you can't plan for it. I've been doing my best to just listen to what my body and heart tells me, to really go in the direction of the thing that is most exciting and interesting and fun at the time. So, I sat with the uke and started working on anothersong, called Reflections by Misterwives (killer band and song btw) and I kept getting frustrated with how it sounded - just didn't feel right. So, instead of forcing myself to keep working on it I took a break and decided to sing a Disney song for fun on uke, because I never tried it before. Immediately Colors of the Wind came out - I remembered just how much I loved that song and it moved me to tears when I watched (and drew) Pocahontas not even a week ago on the plane ride home. I was soooo drawn to it as a kid, not even knowing why, but now as I see her free spirit, not doing what everyone else thought was right, following her heart, being courageous in the face of difficult times, listening to nature...it's all right in line with where I'm at - everything and everyone being connected, that we are all one. I know that there are some things about that movie that aren't perfect, yet I really did connect with it, it was just magical to me when I was a kid. And, when you have difficult and unfair things happen to you in your childhood, these types of films and stories are a way to escape (before you actually can), and basically help you to survive the madness.
Look forward to seeing your day 23s and 24s. :
So I didn't make this FOR the challenge, but after I did it I'm like...damn I guess did create something! I'll post it! I was tired of the scarf I'd thrown over this table (mostly because there was cat hair all over it and I wanted to maybe wear it sometime soon). We had this fabric we were using for our dining table, but the cats kept jumping on it and it kept sliding around and knocking down candles/flowers/anything that was on the table. Soooo we have a bare dining table again, and this fabric was just sitting there. I placed it over this table and just safety pinned the sides so that it looked more tailored. Used the folding technique I learned when I made a bed skirt.
Anyway...it's not super fancy but it will do for now! Until we get a new table... :)
Much love and creativity,
PS apparently I can't post a video and photo at the same time so I'll put my table cover in another post. :)
PPS And yes Don, thanks for reminding me to give credit where it is due...this is totally featuring Sheba Rose on backing vocals. 😸
