Day 7 of Creativity Challenge - Jewellery Making and Questioning Limitations
Day 7 of Creativity Challenge - Jewellery Making!! <3
I saw my jewellery making tools and realized I haven't touched them in ages. This challenge is definitely giving me an opportunity to play with things I don't normally make time for. I had a lot of fun, can't wait to rock some of these pieces as well!! The pieces for the earrings I originally bought to make into a necklace but I thought they looked cool like this - I love mismatching earrings. :)
I've always loved the idea of making jewellery. As a kid, I remember mentioning that I'd love to do it to someone and them telling me "Everyone makes jewellery, it's so rare it actually works out," in a harsh tone and with an eye roll. From then I felt guilty or frivolous for even entertaining the idea. Subconsciously these words and the lack of encouragement made me stay away from it all these years. Luckily, I was introduced to it again on tour and inspired by Jenny Douglas, who was making some amazing things, and had so much fun going shopping for pieces with her. She gave me a starter tool to use before I bought my set of tools. I am so grateful for her and all those experiences.
So, there's proof that one small thing you heard as a kid could change the way you live your life, and hold you back from doing something you love...food for thought. ;) And...also that you don't have to live your life based on limitations someone else has placed on you, usually because they are limited themselves. Next time you feel like you can't do something, maybe step back and ask yourself where that idea came from. It might not even be your voice! Could totally set you free. Let me know if you have any experiences, I'd love to hear them.
Wishing you all lots of love and creativity...I believe in you and you can do anything! <3
