It's Party Time...
What up party people?
Happy Tuesday! I'm finally starting to feel like myself again after coming down with a wicked cold for over two weeks (felt like forever!). Life is good - I'm stoked to just be able to breathe out of my nose and go for walks in the beautiful weather without feeling like I'm gonna pass out. Oh, how quickly I take these things for granted.
At first I didn't want to accept that I was sick, and tried my best to keep running around and doing stuff (which was what got me sick in the first place). Finally, I allowed myself to slow down and stopped feeling guilty about sitting on the couch for hours watching Netflix and playing Rayman on the PS3 (awesome game, btw). My body forced me to take a break for weeks, and all my plans, lists, and tasks had to wait. You know what? The world didn't end. I'm still alive. Everything is just fine. I realized that I can afford to take more time to just be - relax, take baths, sit on the couch, cuddle, laugh, play. I don't have to wait until my body can't take the stress and revolts. You deserve time for yourself too, and you don't have to wait until you've worked yourself to the bone to take a break, rest or relax. In Arianna Huffington's book Thrive she says, "We've made it very clear...that walking around drained and exhausted is what should be looked down on - not taking a break to rest and recharge".
Now that I'm on the road to recovery, I must be more aware of pushing myself too hard and too fast. My band, Belle Ayre, has our first show back this Friday the 13th in Toronto and I want to make sure I'm ready to party! ;) We're unleashing some new tunes for the first time so it's going to be an awesome night. If you can make it out, I promise a killer time and great jams. You can check out the details here. I'd love to see you there.
So go on, light a candle, go for a walk, sing in the shower, dance to your favourite song...spend even just ten minutes doing something that you love. You deserve to feel good, and you don't need a reason. Be easy and gentle with yourself.
Sending you lots of love, strength, and good vibes. I'd love to hear your thoughts, so leave a comment below!
Peace, love and sunshine y'all,
